Über den Autor Wilhelm Hauff

Wilhelm Hauff (29. 11. 1802 Stuttgart - 18. 11. 1827 ebd.) war der Sohn eines württembergischen Beamten; nach Studium der Theologie, Philosophie und Philologie und Promotion in Tübingen arbeitete er zunächst als Hauslehrer, seit 1827 leitete er die Redaktion des Cotta'schen 'Morgenblatts'. Hauff war früh ein erfolgreicher Schriftsteller, seine Märchen zeichnen sich durch die die effektvolle Erweiterung der gängigen Erzähltechniken aus.
