Napoleon Hill wurde 1883 in ärmlichen Verhältnissen in einer bescheidenen Blockhütte in Virginia geboren. Bereits mit 13 Jahren begann er, als Zeitungsreporter zu arbeiten, um der Armut zu entkommen und sich eine juristische Ausbildung zu finanzieren. Mit gerade einmal 25 Jahren begann er auf Anregung seines Mentors Andrew Carnegie - zu diesem Zeitpunkt einer der reichsten Menschen der Welt - die zwei Jahrzehnte dauernden Recherchen und Interviews zu einem Projekt, das später mit »Denke nach und werde reich« eines der erfolgreichsten Bücher aller Zeiten werden sollte. Napoleon Hill starb 1970 in South Carolina.
