Über den Autor Frank Herbert

Frank Herbert (1920-1986) wurde in Tacoma, Washington, geboren. Nach einem Journalismus-Studium arbeitete er unter anderem als Kameramann, Radiomoderator, Dozent und Austerntaucher, bevor 1955 sein Debütroman »The Dragon in the Sea« zur Fortsetzung in einem Science-Fiction-Magazin veröffentlicht wurde. Der Durchbruch als Schriftsteller gelang ihm schließlich Mitte der 1960er-Jahre mit seinem Roman »Der Wüstenplanet«, der sowohl mit dem Hugo Award als auch mit dem Nebula Award ausgezeichnet wurde. Bis heute gilt »Der Wüstenplanet« zusammen mit den Nachfolgeromanen als einzigartige literarische Weltenschöpfung, die jede Generation von Leserinnen und Lesern neu für sich entdeckt.
