Aufgewachsen in Pennsylvania, ging Kate nach ihrem Abschluss nach New York, um ihre bereits im College angefangene Karriere als Schauspielerin weiter zu verfolgen. Doch ihre Pläne änderten sich, als sie ihrer großen Liebe über den Weg lief. Bereits zehn Tage nach ihrer Hochzeit zog das verheiratete Paar nach England, wo Kate unter anderem als Schauspiellehrerin, Redaktionsassistentin und Sekretärin jobbte, bis bald darauf ihr erstes Kind auf die Welt kam. Kate, die mit 13 Jahren zum ersten Mal einen Liebesroman von Mills & Boon gelesen hatte und seither jede Romance begeistert verschlang, die sie in die Hände bekam, übte sich nun während ihrer Zeit als Mutter selbst an der Schriftstellerei. Als ihre Tochter ein Jahr alt war, der erste Erfolg: Sie verkaufte ihre erste Kurzgeschichte an das britisches Magazin "The People's Friend" Für sie gehören Eifer und Ausdauer genauso zum Schreiben wie Fantasie und Leidenschaft: "Schreibe jeden Tag", rät sie allen Hobbyautoren, "und wenn es nur 10 bis 15 Minuten sind!" Neben dem Schreiben liebt sie zu lesen, reisen und zu stricken. Unheimlich gerne würde sie auch ein Musikinstrument erlernen. Sollte es in ihrer Schreibkarriere einmal schlechter laufen, könnte sie sich auch einen Job als Kinderbibliothekarin vorstellen. Kate lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren fünf Kindern im lieblichen Cotswolds in England und genießt das Landleben in vollen Zügen. Das Familienleben mit all seinen kleinen Gewohnheiten hat bei ihr dabei oberste Priorität. "Es ist so einfach, in Eile und beschäftigt zu sein - besonders mit fünf Kindern! - darum ist es umso wichtiger, sich so oft wie möglich zusammenzusetzen und über alle möglichen Dinge zu reden, die nichts mit dem Job oder unseren To-Do-Listen zu tun haben. Diese Augenblicke mit meinem Mann sind der Ausgleich, den ich brauche - und die uns das Gefühl geben, noch immer genauso jung und verliebt zu sein wie damals."
